In part 1 of this blog, I discussed the various strains of marijuana and their effects on the user and my recommendations for experimenting with pot if you haven’t yet tried it(for those of you religious prudes out there, it is a well known fact that Jesus Christ smoked pot on a regular basis. Sativa is believed to have originated in the Middle East, so I’m sure he smoked that for its psychoactive properties).
In part 2 of this blog, I discussed my own marijuana usage and drug experimentation and the positive and negative effects from my regimen and how I had to modify it over the years because of my own medical limitations.
Because of my own minor medical condition called MVP (Mitral valve prolapse), smoking Sativa strains caused several negative side effects such as heart palpitations and rapid heart rate, inducing panic in me. Though medically, I was in no real danger at the time, it did not stop my mind racing to the conclusion that I was suffering from a heart attack.
I no longer smoke Sativa strains due to this. The situation is exacerbated when I smoke sativa and/or use an edible. For me and many people, edible strains are even more potent and the paranoia, heart palpitations and anxiety are amplified. I have learned that I can no longer ingest them. When a person ingests cannabis, they do not feel the effects of it for a while. The stomach acids have to break it down before it enters the bloodstream. The rate at which it enters the bloodstream and effects the user varies from substance to substance. For me, the high usually doesn’t even peak until about 2 hours after taking it.
This can be havoc if you have had a few drinks before going out and then you happen to be driving while the peak hits you like a freight train. It can be dangerous. To reach that level of pot intoxication, you would have to be smoking for hours; but this ‘high’ comes on unexpectedly. As I stated before, I no longer use edibles and I prefer to be completely in control of my intoxication. I am not a reckless person and know my limits. Being that high catches me off guard and it’s disconcerting to lose control like that.
I have a theory as to why this occurs. Terpenes are those aromatic oils that are secreted when the user burns marijuana. They help modulate the effects of the other cannabinoid compounds, such as THC and CBD. I believe the effects of marijuana are even stronger, since the terpenes have never been burned, allowing the effects of THC and CBD to go unchecked.
I believe this especially from anecdotal evidence. The negative effects of marijuana are always more pronounced for me when I had ingested an edible, which is why I steer clear of them now.
To reiterate, the user should know their own body and their own medical limitations. Always use caution when ingesting edibles and know that the effects of them always hit you later, so plan accordingly. If you plan on driving and you’ve had a few drinks, Definitely skip the edible. Actually, as a precaution, you probably shouldn’t even smoke pot at all if you’ve had a few drinks and are planning on driving.
For those suffering from ED symptoms because of high cholesterol, nearly any strain will help lower cholesterol and (hopefully) increase your sex drive. For those with heart problems, you might want to steer clear of sativa strains. Unfortunately, these are the strains that work best to jump start your sex drive.
For those with such problems who still want to treat their ED, there is still hope. If you live in Spokane, Washington, Ann Arbor Michigan, Portland, and most major cities in Oregon, a strain called “The Black” may be just what the doctor ordered. It is a 90{f3dcb6c14bd55a7d2a21c862cbf7a637226585ca8ecd1f74b428d2213383fecd} indica strain bred by BC Bud and it dates back to the 1980’s. It is primarily used as a sleeping aid and a potent pain reliever.
One unexpected side effect is the fact that it aspirates blood flow, allowing it to reach your extremities (yah!). This, coupled with the fact that it lowers your inhibitions and relaxes you explains why it can increase sexual arousal.
For those not suffering from heart problems, nearly any Sativa strain will help jump start your sex drive. But don’t overdo it. I’ve noticed that ingesting too much can actually have the reverse effect. Moderate pot use is always the best rule of thumb. Mixing alcohol with a Sativa strain can actually wreak havoc on your sex drive, causing a perpetual boner but the inability to ejaculate. This has always been a problem for me, which is why I usually ‘fake it’ about half the time (Don’t tell anyone okay?).
Here are some of my favorite sativa strains perfect for jump starting your sex drive: Blackberry lime haze- This is a 90{f3dcb6c14bd55a7d2a21c862cbf7a637226585ca8ecd1f74b428d2213383fecd} sativa cross between blackberry and lime haze. It induces high energy, clear headed effects and it is very uplifting. You will feel energized after a few tokes. Sweet lime and peppery spice overlay a subtle mix of honey, berry and floral notes in a show of Blackberry Lime Haze’s rich terpene profile.
Sour diesel: This is another invigorating Sativa strain named after its pungent diesel like aroma. It is perfect for melting away stress, depression and pain and its effects are highly cerebral. This is actually the strain I began using after nearly 10 years of abstinence. Its pain relieving effects are second to none. After trying several opiate based pain medications, I obtained some of this strain because of a friend’s suggestion. I was in excruciating pain when I tore my rotator cuff. I was in so much pain, I couldn’t even sleep for a week. This strain is the only thing that alleviated the pain-It was a God send! It had the added and unexpected benefit of improving my sex life.
Fire OG –This strain is actually a hybrid, which means it is a cross-bred Sativa/Indica strain. The psychedelic effects of the sativa strain are greatly mitigated. It is uplifting and induces creativity, while not revving you up too much, resulting in a rapid heart rate. I can actually handle this strain. It has the added benefit of increasing sexual arousal.
Skywalker OG- This strain is actually a bit much for me. If I do ever smoke it, I do so very moderately. It has a very high THC content and its highly cerebral and induces hyper-sexuality in many (myself included). This also comes with an elevated heart rate, so I would use caution with it.
OG Kush- This is the flagship strain of California and ranks number 3 as the top strains of all time. This hybrid strain is a popular hybrid strain and there have been countless OG Kush strains under numerous other monikers. It is highly cerebral, relaxing and euphoric. I feel that OG Kush strains give you the best of both worlds. It will do wonders for your sex life but not leave you so over-amped that you can’t sleep. This is one of the major negative side effects of many pure sativa strains.
These are some of my favorite recommendations. As with any substance, consult with cheap authentic atlanta falcons Jerseys your doctor before using and use in moderation. Especially for treating ED, moderation is the key. More is not necessarily better and may actually have the opposite effect desired. You may actually experience impotence. I know, it’s happened to me. Talk soon!
